All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone

Cody, I expect you to get the reference in the title. But while I was mourning all of our departures I started thinking something like "hey class of '10 we should start planning something when we're all back in Tucson over winter break." My thinking is that if we actually start planning it now it may not end up being in some tiny hotel room! Hell most of us even have an entire month off what if we went somewhere exciting? But yeah, let's start planning now so it actually happens.

  2. It may be weird, but I don't think going to a country gripped by insurgency would be a good idea.

  3. Oh crap! Someone remembered what's actually going on in Mexico right now. Penny for the smart man.

  4. Umm, there are parts of Mexico that are still safe to travel in. Thanks for thinking we're all checked out of the real world =P

  5. This is a very familiar conversation... the facebook message about the Trip to Mexico except everyone's positions on the matter has reversed.

  6. I second Brian.
..and Q is right. It's like saying that people shouldn't travel to the u.s because Detroit has a gang problem.
Towns like rocky point (which I imagine is where we will inevitably end up if we go to mexico) thrive on tourism. Their entire economy is based on it- if they let "things" happen that would scare off tourists, they would collapse. Moral of the story: tourist towns are doing everything they possibly can to distance themselves from the violence.

Personally though, I don't really care to go to mexico.

  7. You don't have to go through Detroit to get to the U.S. though.

Regardless, it'll be good just to see everyone again, so it doesn't matter too much to me where we go.

  8. But why Mexico? California is not that much further away and a hell of a lot nicer. There is a travel warning from the State Department (countries like Iran and the Congo are on the same list). I really don't care where we go so long as we do something and we don't have to worry about possible kidnappings/firefights/etc.

  9. I really dislike southern california.
I'd say we should go camping, but it'll be winter.
Does anyone have a cabin, or have access to one, on Mnt. Lemon? That would be awesome and highly convenient....

  10. I'm not really sure what to think about that...
but if it could really work, then I think it worth a shot...

  11. I'm kidding.

I know Dr. Bickel has a cabin on Mt. Lemmon because I went there with a group of grad students and professors for a conference. As you might remember from this blog awhile back...

  13. A friend of my brother's who doesn't really use the cabin but I don't think much will happen since I don't know this guy. I guess I'll give it a try though, maybe it'll work if my brother and his friends joined us.
