The Attractin Gene

My project is progressing wonderfully as I have obtained nearly all the desired data. This week, I will finish preparing samples from intron 23 of the Carrizozo population in order to send them for sequencing. I should also be receiving over fifty sequences from DNA samples I prepared last week. With all of this data, I will be spending much of my time at the laboratory in front of the computer, cleaning and analyzing the data and inserting the sites of variance into an excel spreadsheet for further analysis. By next week, I should have all of the desired sequences for introns 4, 17, and 23 of the attractin gene in the Kenzin, Carrizozo, and backcross populations of the mice and will be able to determine the association of variation in the attractin gene to coat color variation in the mice for regions spanning the large gene. I am eager to obtain my final results and further analyze the data in depth.
