Beginnings. Everything has one.

Today was essentially my first day working on my project. After arriving at Dr. Bickel's office, He and I talked for about forty-five minutes about oscilloscopes and various other equipment I would be using. Once we had gone over most of the equipment and discovered the function of each nob and dial, he gave me a packet containing several experiments, and told me to work on the first one. Then he left. I stayed for about an hour and a half (maybe a little less, I'm not sure) and did some work on the experiment, which mostly consisted of familiarization exercises with the oscilloscope. Most of them were easy, or only required a little digging in the equipment pile. Others.... not so much. For the life of me I couldn't find a speaker - which I needed to finish a part of the experiment. I'm also going to need to talk with him about determining the calibration on several of the components - other than checking the knob and saying "Yes, it's calibrated."

Exciting stuff! Stay tuned for the next installment.

  1. But is Dr.Bickel's oscilloscope from a US Army bunker?

  2. Almost, it's gigantic. It's about twice the size of the one we have in class.
