Ok, so I've been horrible with getting around to posting my news on the blog. I've actually been engaged in my internship for 3 weeks now, however this week is my first ful week (I was previously at the office tuesday, thursday and friday after school). For those of you who don't know already, I'm interning with Gadabout SalonSpas here in Tucson, which has 6 locations around town.
Currently I am working in the company's resource center, which is basically where all the nitty gritty stuff goes down. I have my own cute desk and everything in the same room as my on-site supervisor, who is also the head of marketing for Gadabout. The building itself is pretty small; I think theres maybe 7 girls working there altogether? But what's totally great is that the owners, Frank and Jana Westerbeke are in the office right down the hall from where I am, so they are always popping in to say hi and whatnot. Honestly, they are really great people. The women are really helpful and just so much fun. We've all been keeping up with the Bachelor, so it's definitely entertaining.
As for the actual work, they have been keeping me busy at the computer. I finally finished typing up a manual for the hair stylists at each location, and good god I think I've developed early signs of carpal tunnel. Aside from that, I've also been keeping track of several surveys that Gadabout has sent out; You'd be surprised at how many of their clients are there because they were recommended by either a friend or family memeber. It's unbelievable what word of mouth can do. Hmm oh and I've finally mastered the laminator and copy machine =p
Valentine's Day is coming up and it's one of the major holidays for the salon. Apparently giftcards sell like crazy, so guys, if you dont know what to get your girlfriend....
No but I believe next week Megan, my supervisor, and I will be on-site at one of the locations to help out with sales, that way I can get a feel for what goes on in the store, so I can't wait for that.
Honestly I am having a fabulous time with these people. The staff is great and so helpful, and just Gadabout overall is what gets me. I don't know if you know this, but I'm kind of a girly girl, so this is like my sanctuary. I'll be sure to post more next week. If I don't blog again before the 14th, Happy Valentine's Day!

Hey, Christina! Carpal tunnel syndrome aside, it sounds like you're having a great time. And who'd have thought that you of all people would fit in so well at a fancy salon/spa?
