The Superbowl vs. Screaming Children

So, I'm back in L.A. which means I have time to blog again! Week two at Brainhighways was just as exciting as the first week.

This week a lot of the kids were going through regressions, Alma (my boss) has been warning parents (and the staff) that this would be coming soon but it's hard to imagine until you see it. One of my favorite girls in the younger class who has been great at following directions and participating spent the hour long class screaming and kicking. The multiple meltdowns made this week quite a bit more challenging. And then there was the Superbowl, half of the parents for the second class on Sunday didn't show up, Alma who is generally a very calm person was VERY VERY upset, which made the rest of the night stressful.

There was a parent who is a pediatric neurologist who came to the drop-in who I'm hoping to convince give me another internship. I'm somewhat worried that would be taking on a lot but it's a great opportunity and we'll have to see where things stand after our meeting on Friday.

Other things are really moving along, they gave me the training book, which I have thoroughly annotated in a way that I believe would make Ms Toews proud. I am also continuing to read other articles and am beginning to get worried that I am going to become a "hover parent" because of all the developmental steps that are now on my radar.

Now if only the weather here would calm down, it's been raining in SD and LA since Saturday night pretty much non-stop, everything would be perfect.Wish me luck driving back to SD Thursday!

  1. This sounds great. I am sure that you are going to learn lots! We don't call them hover parents at BASIS...they are 'helicopter parents'.
