Extraction

I spent Monday morning at a (long!) lab meeting. Wednesday, I looked for primers that I can use to perform PCR on my Oleracea DNA. I came up with a few, but I might need to look for more. I also took some pictures of a few of the plants. I'm posting one that shows a wild-type (un-mutated) Oleracea next to a dwarf mutant of the same species. (link)

Today (Thursday,) I collected tissue from my plants and prepared DNA samples. I think I have the hang of it now. The hardest thing was knowing where different solutions were, and knowing which pipettes not to use. I'm posting the procedure for anyone who is curious. It opens in a Word document (.doc) format. Tomorrow, I may be either looking for more primers or performing PCR.
